Early in my term, I began discussing the need for animal control. There was much outrage by a few select people when I proposed an animal control bill in February. After that quorum court meeting, I met with several animal rescues to get their input on the issue and find out what more I needed to do with the ordinance. Again in April, the Saline County Quorum Court discussed animal control but took no action. The county has no animal control, and Makayla Fortner unnecessarily died as a result. Along with no animal control, seven of the county tornado sirens do not work. This county has serious safety issues, yet the very people who could solve these problems care more about a bridge to nowhere, a walking trail, and a meaningless county flag! As District 12 JP, I stand ready, capable, and willing to help solve the real problems facing our county, but others must put their pride and personal political differences aside and join me in working - not for the elitists and special interests - but for the ordinary taxpaying citizens of Saline County.

My sincere condolences to the family of Makayla Fortner. Prayers for their family and prayers that the animal control issues are solved expeditiously.
